Dust: An Elysian Tail Screenshots and Launch Trailer

Some of you may have not yet heard of Dust: An Elysian Tail. It is a 2D platformer with questing RPG elements. What makes this title so special? Dust: An Elysian Tail, by Humble Hearts was essentially designed by a one man team with the pen name Dean Dodrill. The hand painted artwork alone is enough to peek one’s interest.

Quoting from his online diary, the official Dust: An Elysian Tail page, Dean Dodrill states:

“I’m the sole developer on this project. I’m handling the programming, writing, artwork, and sound effects/voices .”

As for the music composition, the game features music by Alex Brandon of HyperDuck Studios. Over the years, a fan base has been created around it, with loads of anticipation around the release. Originally it was going to be released as an Xbox Indie, but won the the 2009 Microsoft Dream.Build.Play Challenge and received a contract with XBLA.

Well, it is almost here, after an initial delay back in 2011. It is featured in Xbox Live Summer of Arcade and will be released August 15th, 2012. Years in the making, Dust: An Elysian Tail is finally only a few days away.
